Abstract:
A search for pair-production of third generation scalar leptoquarks decaying to top quark and tau lepton pairs is presented using the 19.5 fb1\mathrm{fb^{-1}} of data collected by the CMS detector at the LHC in pp\mathrm{pp} collisions at s=8\sqrt{s}=8 TeV. An excess of events containing same-sign muon and hadronic tau candidates with two or more jets is sought after, but the observations are found to be in agreement with the standard model predictions. Assuming unit branching fraction for the leptoquark decays to a top - tau pair, the existence of pair-produced charge 1/3-1/3 third generation leptoquarks up to a mass of 550 GeV is excluded at 95%95\% CL.
