The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Swarthmore College invites applications for a tenure track position in theoretical physics at the Assistant Professor level beginning with the Fall semester of 2015.
Swarthmore is a highly selective liberal arts college located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, whose mission combines academic rigor with social responsibility. Candidates must have a strong interest in teaching at a highly selective, undergraduate liberal arts college, as Swarthmore is ranked among the top five liberal arts colleges in the country and our students are highly achieving and motivated. We are seeking candidates capable of teaching theoretical topics at all levels of the undergraduate curriculum; we particularly seek candidates who can offer advanced undergraduate courses such as general relativity, particle physics, or field theory.
Applicants should submit (1) a CV, (2) a statement of teaching experience and approach, and (3) a description of theoretical research interests and activities that could involve Swarthmore undergraduates. Three letters of reference must be submitted as well. Application packages should be submitted through academicjobsonline.org, job #4490, and addressed to Prof. Michael Brown, Chair, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Swarthmore College, Swarthmore, PA 19081.
For full consideration, the deadline for receipt of applications is October 24, 2014.
Swarthmore has a strong institutional commitment to inclusive excellence through diversity in its educational program and employment practices. The College actively seeks and welcomes applications from candidates with exceptional qualifications, particularly those with demonstrable commitments to a more inclusive society and world.
