Abstract:
An observation of the Higgs boson production for the two photon decay channel with the 2016 LHC data is described. The analysis is performed using the dataset recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC from pp collisions at centre-of-mass energy of corresponding to an integrated luminosity of . The observed significance for the standard model Higgs boson at the Run 1 ATLAS+CMS combined is , where is expected. A maximum significance of is observed at . The best-fit signal strength relative to the standard model prediction is when the mass parameter is profiled in the fit, and when it is fixed to . The fiducial cross section is measured to be , where the standard model theoretical prediction is .Note:
