Job description:
The Experimental Particle Physics group at the University of Glasgow invites applications for two fully funded PhD student positions on the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider.

The two positions are to work on top quark physics measurements with Dr M Owen and on exotic resonance searches and Beyond Standard Model phenomenology with Dr A Buckley. The Glasgow group plays a significant role in the ATLAS experiment, in both analysing the data, the operation of the inner detector and trigger systems and in the upgrade of the detector for the high luminosity LHC.

The positions are funded by the Royal Society for a start in Autumn 2018. The funding is for 4 years and includes a tax-fee bursary (£14,553 per annum in 2017/18). The positions also have financial support for travel during the PhD programme, including the opportunity to spend 1 year based at CERN. Applicants from all nationalities are welcome.

For more details about the projects, please contact Dr M Owen (markowen@cern.ch) and Dr A Buckley (andy.buckley@cern.ch).

Applications should be made through the University website: https://www.gla.ac.uk/research/opportunities/howtoapplyforaresearchdegree/.
