The Department of Physics of the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María (UTFSM) and the Centro Científico y Tecnológico de Valparaíso (CCTVAL) in Valparaíso, Chile, invite applications for sponsoring postdoctoral research fellowships to the FONDECYT Postdoc 2020 program to be closed on September 24th:

The candidate will work within the ATLAS experiment Valparaíso group. The FONDECYT fellowship is expected to begin on April 15th, 2020, with eligibility limited to recent PhDs (received after January 1st, 2016 and granted before October 1st, 2019).

The UTFSM ATLAS group is engaged in several areas of the Scientific program of the ATLAS collaboration: Heavy Ion Physics, BSM Higgs, Exotics, software development for Run 3 and beyond and in the operation of a WLCG Tier-2 facility.

The successful candidate is expected to take a leading role in one of the Physics analyses in which UTFSM is engaged within the HDBS Higgs (DiHiggs searches) or Exotics (Heavy neutrino searches) groups and to contribute to the ATLAS software development.

Applicants are required to have a PhD in Physics by the time of appointment and should have in-depth research experience in experimental particle Physics, previous experience in one of the LHC experiments is desirable but not required.
