The Institute of High Energy Physics of the Austrian Academy of Sciences in Vienna, Austria, is looking for a highly motivated, talented and qualified Ph.D. student (f/m) with a background (M.Sc., diploma, or equivalent) in experimental or theoretical high energy physics in the context of the DKPI doctoral programme: http://www.dkpi.at/applications-doctoral-program/   The successful candidate will take part in our efforts to discover or exclude signals of supersymmetry in the 13 TeV LHC data currently collected by the CMS experiment. The 3-year project focuses on maximizing the sensitivity in particularly challenging models with compressed mass spectra and to identify potential signals from supersymmetric partner particles in the CMS dataset of the LHC Run-II.   The work will be carried out in collaboration with other international research groups. Therefore, good communication skills (English), readiness to travel (e.g. to CERN) and the quality to work in a team are required.   Besides its involvement in searches for supersymmetry, Higgs and top quark physics, at the CMS detector, the institute has also major responsibilities in the tracker and trigger projects in CMS as well as a experimental and theoretical groups focusing on dark matter.   The institute is moreover participating in the BELLE / BELLE II collaborations at KEK/Japan.
