Job description:
The CMS department in the Particle Physics Division of the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory seeks an outstanding candidate for an Associate Scientist position. The position provides unique opportunities for research in experimental physics through contributions to the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in both data analysis and in the construction of the CMS Outer Tracker sub-detector for the High Luminosity LHC.

Applications from Ph.D. physicists of exceptional talent with at least two (2) years of post-doctoral experience are considered. The appointment is for an initial term of three (3) years and there exists the possibility for renewal for an additional two (2) years upon completion of a successful review after the first two (2) years; thereafter, the potential exists for eventual appointment without term limit.

Qualifications and Essential Job Functions
• Ph.D. in Physics or relevant subject.
• 2+ years of postdoctoral experience.
• Demonstrated ability to carry out independent research in experimental particle physics or a similar field.
• Demonstrated ability to either design, or build, or commission, or operate a sub-detector for HEP.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated by presentations at conferences and a strong record of publications in professional journals.
