The successful candidate is expected to participate in the physics research carried out by the group taking a leading role in ATLAS data analysis and object reconstruction.
The group has strong involvement in ATLAS searches for new physics, Standard Model measurements and detector performance studies of jets and b-tagging algorithms with an emphasis on applying machine learning techniques to these areas.
The group collaborates with computer scientists and software engineers at Argonne’s Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF) working on multiple High Performance Computing platforms and preparing for next generation exascale systems.
The Argonne group has significant involvement in ATLAS detector operations and has several major upgrade activities including ITk Pixel and TDAQ, ATLAS core software development, machine learning algorithms, and software design for high-performance computers.
Position Requirements
Candidates must have received their Ph.D. in experimental particle physics within three years of the start of the appointment.
Applicants should include curriculum vitae and a statement of research interests through the Argonne National Laboratory application system https://www.anl.gov/hr/postdoctoral-applicants with Requisition Number 405010 and arrange for three letters of recommendation be sent to: hep_letters@anl.gov .
