Abstract:
A search for charged lepton flavor violating decays τ3μ\tau\to3\mu has been performed using proton-proton collisions with a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. The analysis uses the data set collected by the CMS detector in 2016, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 33 fb1^{-1}, and exploits τ\tau leptons produced in D and B meson decays. No signal is observed, and an upper limit of 8.8×1088.8\times 10^{-8} is set at the 90%90\% confidence level on the branching fraction of the τ\tau lepton to three muons.
