Abstract: (Elsevier)
We discuss the influence of quarks on the first order deconfinement phase transition present in pure SU(3) lattice gauge theory. Strong coupling considerations as well as Monte Carlo simulations on a 8 3 × 2 lattice indicate that this transition weakens rapidly with decreasing quark mass and disappears below a critical mass of the order of GeV.- TALK
