The constraints on the supergeometry of D = 3,4,6,10 curved superspace, required for the coupling of supergravity to the Green-Schwarz superstring, are determined. We show that these are consistent with off - shell supergravity or super-Yang-Mills backgrounds for the superstring for D = 3,4,6.- MODEL: STRING
