Abstract: (APS)
The stochastic truncation method is applied to compact QED in 2+1 dimensions, with and without dynamical fermions. Results for the string tension and mass gap for the pure gauge theory compare favorably with those from other Monte Carlo approaches. The method does appear ca- pable of handling cases where the basis-state amplitudes have differing signs, as in models with fermions.- QUANTUM ELECTRODYNAMICS
