Abstract: (Elsevier)
The finite temperature one loop renormalization of the pure QCD coupling constant in the real-time as well as in the imaginary-time formalism is discussed. The temperature dependence of the thermal β T coefficient is derived in a generalized momentum subtraction scheme, and the behaviour for asymptotic temperatures is investigated.
