Abstract: (Elsevier)
By application of subtracted fixed- t dispersion relations some implications of analyticity on πN phase-shift analyses are studied. The method consists in varying the subtraction point throughout the phase-shift region and expanding the unknown high-energy contribution in powers of the subtraction energy. As a result one obtains information on both the inaccurately known low-energy region - as an example we determine the S- and P-wave scattering lengths - and on energies above the phase-shift region, where a comparison is made to Regge fits. For −4 M < t < 4 m π 2 we are able to calculate the “subtraction function” A (+) ( ν = 0, t ), which is compared with the result from a fixed-ν dispersion relation.- pi nucleon: interaction
