LOFAR Collaboration
LOFAR is an advanced digital radio telescope that will operate in the frequency range from ~10 to ~250 MH. LOFAR's five scientific aims are: 1) The High Redshift Universe: study of the most distant radio galaxies and quasars 2) The Epoch of Reionization: detection of the global signature and mapping of structures 3) Galactic Cosmic Rays: map the 3D distribution of the Galactic cosmic ray electron gas 4) The Bursting and Transient Universe: detect short lived transient events - bursts from Jupiter-like planets, merging and interacting compact objects 5) Solar-Terrestrial Relationships: detect Coronal Mass Ejections and study of the Earth's Ionosphere.
