CEX(E853) is an experiment to test the feasibility and efficiency of extracting a low intensity beam from the halo of the Tevatron using the property of channeling in a bent silicon crystal. The original motivation of this effort is to use such a scheme to extract beam at trans-TeV accelerators to do Fixed target Beauty-physics. Such a scheme could also be employed to create a low-intensity test-beamline at Fermilab.
