- The School of Physics, Astronomy, and Computational Sciences was formed in 2011 by combining the Department of Physics and Astronomy with the Department of Computational and Data Sciences (chaired by Dimitrios Papaconstantopoulos). The Department of Computational and Data Sciences was formed in 2006 along with the College of Science and was derived from parts of the School of Computational Sciences (Menas Kafatos, Dean).
