Job description:
The Laboratoire Leprince-Ringuet (LLR) at École Polytechnique is seeking a post-doctoral researcher to work on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) at CERN. The group is a founding member of the CMS Collaboration. It has designed, built, and is responsible for the operation of the Level-1 trigger for the electromagnetic calorimeter. It has major involvement in particle reconstruction and identification with the e/gamma and tau Physics Object Groups, and contributed to the development of the Particle Flow event reconstruction. The group is one of the key actors for the discovery of a Higgs boson and the measurement of its properties within the CMS Collaboration and is among the leading groups in diboson and VBS physics. The group is also strongly involved in the developments for the LHC Phase-2 CMS upgrades with major responsibilities in the mechanics, trigger, and software algorithms of the future endcap calorimeters.
We are seeking an outstanding and strongly motivated physicist, who has recently acquired or is about to acquire a PhD degree in experimental particle physics. The successful post-doctoral researcher is expected take a leading role in CMS physics analysis and (s)he will be part of our efforts to explore Higgs boson physics at LHC. (S)he is expected actively focus on the double Higgs boson production studies. (S)he willl also participate to the data taking effort. A participation in the CMS upgrade is also a possibility.
Applications should include:
- a Curriculum Vitæ et Studiorum;
- a skimmed and annotated list of publications to which the candidate made major contributions;
- a short statement of motivation and research interests.
The candidate should also arrange at least two reference letters to be sent to the same email address (cms-llr-postdoc@llr.in2p3.fr)
The position is initially limited to two years based on a secured CNRS funding, possibility of an extension is depending on additional funding requests. Preference will be given to candidates with less than 2 years postdoctoral experience.
Review of the applications will start immediately and continue until the position is filled. To receive full consideration, applications should be sent before June 8th 2020.
Letters of Reference should be sent to:
