Deadline on Jul 31, 2020
Job description:
The Max Planck Institute for Physics carries out basic research in the field of theoretical and experimental elementary particle and astroparticle physics with approximately 330 employees from more than 20 countries. Our Director for quantum field theory is looking for a
Scientific Research Assistant
(m/f/d)
to join us as soon as possible to expand and head a Research Group in the field of quantum field theory/scattering amplitudes. We are looking for an individual with scientific credentials who will contribute their own ideas and commitment to the Research Group, and who will play an important role in the success of the research work.
As well as your own scientific work, your tasks will include specialist guidance for other scientists involved in the project, the production and presentation of work reports, and further support for the project management. Financial resources are available for the expansion of the group.
As well as meeting the general requirements for a position of this nature (a doctorate in physics, successful implementation of research projects in international research groups, relevant scientific publications, presentations at international conferences), you should also have a solid knowledge base in one or more of the following areas: quantum field theory, conformal field theory, AdS/CFT correspondence, scattering amplitudes in gauge theories, calculation of cross-sections for LHC processes, computer algebra.
We also expect excellent team skills, communication skills and a keen interest in actively supporting young researchers in developing their specialist knowledge and independence.
Remuneration is based on the Collective Wage Agreement for the Civil Service (TVöD (Bund)) pay scale up to pay group 15, depending on your qualifications and experience. The post is initially available on a 5-year fixed-term basis.
The Max Planck Society strives for gender equality and diversity. The Max Planck Society is committed to increasing the number of individuals with disabilities in its workforce and therefore encourages applications from such qualified individuals. Furthermore, the Max Planck Society seeks to increase the number of women in those areas where they are underrepresented and therefore explicitly encourages women to apply.
