Job description:
Post-doctoral opening in the ATLAS group of LPNHE-Paris

The Paris ATLAS group is opening a two-year post-doc position at the LPNHE. The position is funded by the CNRS/IN2P3 and will begin on 1st November 2020.

The Laboratoire de Physique Nucléaire et des Hautes Énergies (LPNHE) is a mixed research unit under the joint supervision of CNRS/IN2P3, Sorbonne Université (former Pierre et Marie Curie) and Université de Paris (former Université Paris Diderot). The ATLAS group at LPNHE is composed of about 30 physicists and engineers, heavily contributing to physics analysis and with strong experience in detector design, construction and commissioning. Our physics interests include the study of the Higgs boson properties in the di-photon and bb quark final states. We also contribute to the precision measurements of top quark physics, SM jet cross section and search for new physics beyond the Standard Model, with analyses on Dark Matter and SUSY. The group is also very active in R&D on Silicon pixel sensors and radiation damage in semiconductors, and in the design and construction of the Phase-II upgrade of the ATLAS tracker (ITk) and high-granularity calorimeter (HGTD). Our laboratory takes part in the Tier-2 GRIF in Paris area.

The successful candidate is expected to contribute to the construction test and quality assurance of the pixel modules of the ATLAS ITk upgraded tracker, in the framework of Paris cluster in collaboration with the CEA and IJCLab ATLAS groups.
A fraction of the time will also be devoted by the candidate to contribute to the analysis of data collected during the LHC data-taking up to Run3; in particular joining one of the activities of the ATLAS group in the physics of the Higgs boson decaying to heavy quarks.

Candidates should have a PhD in experimental high-energy physics by the date of appointment. Applicants should send curriculum vitae, list of most relevant publications, brief statement of research interests and arrange for two letters of recommendation to be sent to:

Dr. G. Calderini (giovanni.calderini@lpnhe.in2p3.fr).
Dr. G. Marchiori (giovanni.marchiori@lpnhe.in2p3.fr).
Dr. D. Lacour (didier.lacour@cern.ch)

Deadline for applications is 15/09/2020 but applications will be considered until the position is filled. The job will start as soon as November 1st 2020.
