Job description:
Postdoctoral position (pay scale: E 13 TV-L; maximally 6 years) at Humboldt University of Berlin
Job ID: AN/225/20
Our group is engaged in the ATLAS experiment in searches for New Physics and in the operation of the ATLAS Semiconductor Tracker (SCT) and in the silicon strip detector (ATLAS Itk) high- luminosity LHC upgrade project. Moreover, we work on Physics-Beyond-Collider projects, such as SHiP and SND@LHC.
The focus of the postdoc activities will be on searches for long-lived particles in ATLAS, ATLAS detector operation, and Physics-Beyond-Collider detector R&D. The candidate is expected to play a leading role in these areas, which also involves supervision of graduate and PhD students. The position is connected to teaching duties (lab classes, tutorials) equivalent to 4 hours per week during the teaching terms (on longer term in German).
Applicants should have a completed study of physics with specialization in Particle Physics, Nuclear Physics, or Astroparticle Physics and hold a doctoral degree in physics with specialization in experimental particle physics, preferentially in an LHC experiment like ATLAS or CMS and should have demonstrated excellent skills either data analysis, object-oriented programming, or detector operation/development. Teaching experience is welcome.
The position is available from 1 October 2020. Payment is according to the German TV-L system.
The Humboldt University of Berlin is an equal opportunity employer. Suitable qualified women as well as persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
Applications quoting the job ID should be sent to lacker@physik.hu-berlin.de and yulia.jagodzinski@physik.hu-berlin.de until 29 September 2020, and should include a curriculum vitae, a short description of the research experience and interests as well as copies of certificates of degrees. Letters of reference from three referees should be sent independently.
