Job description:
The University of Regensburg is conducting a Tenure-Track Faculty search in the elementary particle and hadron physics theory group.
A main focus of the group is physics relevant for the Electron Ion Collider (EIC). The applicant should have in-depth knowledge of QCD methodology and should be interested to contribute to EIC physics at an internationally visible level. In particular she/he should be qualified to become a Principle Investigator in existing and future coordinated funding proposals in the field of high precision hadron physics. She/he should also be qualified to lead a young researcher group. Ideally, the candidate would be very familiar with the application of modern computer-based techniques, which would allow her/him to collaborate with the Regensburg High Performance Computing group.
Applicant must have changed universities following the doctorate or have been academically active for at least two years somewhere other than Universität Regensburg before the application. The applicant should be able to teach the full breadth of courses in Theoretical Physics and to participate in the university’s academic self-governance.
More detail can be found in the full posting
Possibly the prerequisites for this position are not completely clear from the announcement. We are especially looking for candidates with no more than 4 years after their PhD. Prior experience with EIC physics is not a strict requirement.
Applications containing the usual documents (resume, certificates, list of publications, list of possible research projects, third-party funding, teaching experience) should be submitted electronically to the Dean of the Faculty of Physics, email: fakultaet.physik@verwaltung.uni-regensburg.de.
The application deadline is 30.11.2020.
