Job description:
The Theory Groups of Georgi Dvali, Dieter Lüst, and Giulia Zanderighi at the Max Planck Institute for Physics in Munich are inviting applications for a
Group-Leader Position in Numerics, Algorithms, and IT Support.
The position is a fixed-term appointment with an initial contract duration of 5 years, with the possibility to become a permanent position.

Suitable candidates are expected to
  • Perform research primarily in the field of high-energy collider physics, with particular emphasis on the development and use of numerical methods and algorithms.
  • Support and train young scientists in developing and using numerical codes and algorithms, and in the usage of High Performance Computing systems.
  • Collaborate with the IT department of the institute.
The required qualifications are
  • A PhD degree in physics.
  • Well-established achievements in high-energy particle physics research, with particular emphasis on numerical methods and algorithms.
  • Experience in the development of software for the simulation of high-energy particle collisions (e.g. Monte Carlo methods, event generators, or machine-learning techniques).
  • Experience in high-performance computing systems, computer algebra tools, and software used in the field.
