Deadline on Dec 20, 2020
Job description:
The Institute of Quantum Matter at South China Normal University (SCNU) has three joint postdoctoral positions available in strong interaction physics (hadron and nuclear physics), employing effective field theories and/or computational methods. The postdocs are expected to spend half of their time at SCNU in collaboration with Prof. Qian Wang. For the other half of their time, the postdocs will visit either Bonn University or Forschungszentrum Jülich, Germany, where they are expected to work in the group of Prof. Ulf-G. Meißner. Sufficient travel funding will be provided to support the relocation between the involved institutions/universities.
The position is for a duration of two years, with a possible extension for a third year, and a high potential to be converted to a faculty member at SCNU for outstanding performance. The start date is provisionally the fall of 2021, with flexibility to start earlier. Applicants are expected to have a Ph.D. in theoretical nuclear or particle physics by the beginning of the postdoctoral appointment. The research interests include (but are not limited to) hadron physics, nuclear physics, effective field theories and other modern theoretical tools.
Interested applicants should submit (in English):
1. a curriculum vitae including a list of publications,
2. at least three reference letters,
3. a statement of research interest.
If you have any questions about these positions, feel free to send a message to qianwang@m.scnu.edu.cn. Review of applications will begin on December 20, 2020, and continue until the positions are filled.
For your information: SCNU is located in Guangzhou, China, which is a sprawling port city (120 km) northwest of Hong Kong on the Pearl River. For information about Institute of Quantum Matter, see http://iqm.scnu.edu.cn.
