Job description:
The Faculty of Physics invites applications for Professorship (chair, salary grade W3) in Theoretical Physics
with the legal status of a tenured civil servant (Beamtenverhältnis auf Lebenszeit).

The professor should enhance the research and teaching of the faculty in the area of Theoretical Physics. The person to be appointed should be appropriately qualified in the field of quantum chromodynamics and demonstrate an interest in participating in future collaborative research initiatives at the University of Regensburg in the field of precision hadron physics. A co-operation with the Regensburg Particle Physics Group, which develops and applies methods of perturbative QCD, lattice QCD and high-performance computing, is desired. The candidate must be willing to participate in the academic self-administration to the usual extent.

In addition to the general conditions of the public sector employment law, the prerequisites for employment are a university degree, pedagogical aptitude, exceptional ability for scientific work, which is usually proven by the quality of the doctoral thesis, as well as additional scientific achievements, evidenced through a habilitation or equivalent academic achievements, which can also have been attained outside of the university domain, or demonstrated in the context of a junior professorship.

The compatibility of family and work is a particular concern of the University of Regensburg (for more information, see http://www.uni-regensburg.de/chancengleichheit). In order to fulfill the gender equality directive and to increase the number of female professors, the university explicitly encourages qualified female scientists to apply.

In the case of essentially similar suitability, preference will be given to an applicant with severe disabilities.

The civil service requirements for an appointment are based on the provisions of the Bavarian Public Service Code (BayBG) and the Bavarian University Staff Act (BayHSchPG). The age limit of Art. 10 Abs. 3 BayHSchPG must be observed.

Applications with the usual documents (curriculum vitae, certificates, list of publications, lists of possible research projects, previously acquired third-party funding and teaching experience) should be submitted exclusively in electronic form in one pdf-file
