invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Experimental High Energy Physics to commence on 1 June 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter. The experimental High Energy Physics research group of the Cavendish Laboratory has major involvements in the ATLAS and LHCb experiments at CERN, in the MicroBooNE and DUNE experiments at Fermilab, and in the AION Project and MAGIS experiments. The group has strong links to phenomenologists within the Cavendish Laboratory, at DAMPT, and beyond.

will strengthen the group's existing international reputation in experimental particle physics on the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider, and will work on the physics case of the recently proposed ANUBIS experiment (https://www.hep.phy.cam.ac.uk/ANUBIS) that will extend the ATLAS' sensitivity to search for long-lived particles with decay lengths in excess of 10 m. A particular focus of this work will be on detailed simulations of the ANUBIS detector, and the optimisation of the detector geometry considering potential Beyond the SM scenarios and SM processes. Another important aspect is contributing to the construction, commissioning, and eventual data taking of the proANUBIS prototype in the ATLAS cavern during Run 3.

will be a fixed term appointment for 12 months in the first instance. The successful candidate will be based at the Cavendish Laboratory, with the possibility to travel to CERN for detector-related work. Appointment at Research Associate is dependent on having a PhD including those who have submitted but not yet received their PhD (in which case appointment will initially be made at Research Assistant and amended to Research Associate when the PhD is awarded). The Research Associate (grade 7) salary falls within the range £32,816 to £40,322. The Research Assistant salary (grade 5) falls within the range £26,715 to £30,942.
