Job description:
The University of South Dakota Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position in Neutrino Physics. The group has been long-term members of the Majorana and the LEGEND (Large Enriched Germanium Experiment for Neutrinoless double beta Decay) collaborations. The initial phase of LEGEND, called LEGEND-200, is scheduled to start data taking in 2021. The successful candidate will make substantial contributions to the LEGEND project, including both coordinated experimental efforts for LEGEND-200 (commissioning and operation) and R&D aimed at LEGEND-1000. Candidates can choose to contribute to the Majorana Demonstrator experiment as well. This position is initially for a full year with possibility to renew depending on performance and funding.

Requirements:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Nuclear and Particle Physics or closely related field prior to beginning the position.
Experience in data analysis, simulation and/or instrumentation within Nuclear and Particle Physics or closely related fields.
Great verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to work well in a research environment that requires intensive collaborations.
This position will require domestic travels.

It is highly desired if the candidate has expertise in one or multiple areas below:
Expertise in neutrino, dark matter, or accelerator-based experiments.
Expertise in data analysis and software development associated with large and complex datasets, preferably with Python.
Expertise in hardware instrumentation and/or data analysis associated with liquid scintillator, particularly liquid argon.

The review will continue until the position is filled.
