Job description:
The Experimental High Energy Physics (HEP) group in the Department of Physics at the University of Cincinnati seeks candidates for a post-doctoral fellow position associated with the LHCb and CODEX-b experiments. The individual hired will help lead the construction and development of the CODEX-β prototype for CODEX-b, including both software and hardware aspects. The focus of this work will be producing a realistic transverse detector at the LHC. The candidate will also work on LHCb analyses, with a focus on beyond the standard model, electroweak, and jet measurements. The position will be preferentially based at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland, with the possibility of Cincinnati, OH.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent) in experimental HEP or a closely related field. The ideal candidate would have experience in:
(1) developing and commissioning detector hardware
(2) building production-quality, sustainable, software written in C++ and Python
(3) analyzing high energy physics data,
(4) communicating effectively.
