Job description:
The Weizmann Institute is searching for a Tenure Track Staff Scientist for the department of Physics Core Facilities. We welcome applicants of diverse backgrounds, nationalities, male and female.

The right person for this position should love the work as an experimental physicist, and be interested in joining and supporting world leading research in a variety of fields: Particle physics, Condensed Matter, AMO, Astrophysics as well as subjects beyond (Chemistry and Life sciences).
The work of the Staff Scientist would typically consist of a number of projects with different groups, ranging from weeks to years in length and including full involvement in the research.
The candidate should have a Ph.D. in experimental physics and several years of post-doctoral experience, have expertise in at least 3 of the bullets below, and basic knowledge in several more. Over the career, the candidate is expected to expand their fields of expertise to cover other items as well.
- Design, construction and maintenance of vacuum systems, specialized materials
- Cryogenics down to LN2
- mK cryogenics, Dil. Fridges, liquid He
- High voltage systems
- Radioactive sources - handling, safety, purchasing, measurements
- Radiation detectors - usage, design, development
- Electronics - DAQ, readout and trigger systems, FPGA, custom electronics - very low noise, DC AC and RF.
- Control software - LabView, commercial solutions, PAC, SCADA
- Gas handling and systems - high pressure, purity, cleanliness, safety
- Mechanical design and manufacturing of customized systems
- Scanning probe microscopy - experience in working with/building systems such as STM/AFM or equivalent scanning system
- Laser systems, design and maintenance
- Optical design
