Job description:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy in the Swenson College of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor that will begin on August 22, 2022. This is a full time, 9 month position. The Department has existing strengths in condensed matter, particle and nuclear, and astrophysics. Applications in these or closely related fields are welcome, as are both theory/computational and experimental research programs. The successful candidate is expected to establish a collaborative, externally funded, and nationally recognized research program that engages undergraduate and M.S. students. Balancing impactful research with teaching introductory, core, and specialty courses at both undergraduate and M.S. levels makes our Department a unique environment to thrive as faculty. Our introductory courses and most upper-level courses are taught using an active learning environment, and evidence-based instruction methods are critical to our Department’s success. Advising and mentoring that support diversity and inclusion is expected, as is service to the Department, College, and University. Candidates must have a Ph.D. or equivalent in physics or astronomy or a closely related field by July 1, 2022. Postdoctoral experience is preferred. Please see https://z.umn.edu/scsecareers for more information.

Please direct questions about this position to Dr. Jay Austin (phys-search@d.umn.edu). Applications received by 10 November 2021 will receive full consideration, and review will continue until the position is filled.
