Job description:
Applications are invited for up to three Postdoctoral Research Associates to work with Professor Christopher Beem at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. These are three-year, fixed-term positions, funded by a research grant from the European Research Council.
Successful candidates will join Professor Beem’s thriving research team and have the opportunity to carry out research as a part of the ERC-funded project Algebraic Foundations of Supersymmetric Quantum Field Theory. They will also join the Mathematical Physics group, with faculty members Professors Fernando Alday, Francis Brown, Xenia de la Ossa, Artur Ekert, Jon Keating, Lionel Mason, Mark Mezei, Sakura Schafer-Nameki, and James Sparks, along with a substantial number of research fellows, postdoctoral researchers, and graduate students.
Applicants will be expected to have, or be close to completing, a PhD in theoretical or mathematical physics or a closely related field, possess sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within established research programmes, and have the ability to manage their own academic research and associated activities. A familiarity or expertise in supersymmetric/superconformal quantum field theories is desirable.
We proudly hold a departmental Athena SWAN Silver Award and an institutional Race Equality Charter Bronze Award, which guide our progress towards advancing racial and gender equality. As part of our strategic aim to improve staff equality and diversity, we would particularly welcome applications from women and BAME candidates, who are currently under-represented in positions of this type within the department.
