Our group
The ATLAS group at the Laboratoire de physique nucléaire et de hautes énergies (LPNHE) in Paris, France, invites you to apply for a postdoctoral position in experimental particle physics. The successful candidate will spend their time as a member of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider as well as the Future Circular Collider (FCC-ee). This position is to be based in Paris.
The LPNHE is a laboratory of the IN2P3 (Institut National de Physique Nucléaire et de Physique de Particules), a CNRS institute, and of the universities « Sorbonne Université » and « Université Paris Diderot Sorbonne Paris Cité ». The laboratory, located in Paris (France), is involved in major particle physics, astroparticle physics and cosmology international collaborations.
The position:
In this position you will:
* Take a leading role in ATLAS Run II and III analyses related to jet measurements, jet substructure and tagging
* Collaborate with members of the FCC-ee community to extend these jet studies
* Publish research findings in journals and present at conferences
* Mentor students at the undergraduate and graduate level
Requirements
For this position you need:
*A PhD in particle physics, astroparticle physics or related discipline, less than two years after graduation
* Experience in high-energy physics data analysis
* To be proficient with computer programming in C++ and python
* To be able to communicate effectively through documents and presentations
* Fluency in English
* Demonstrated ability to tackle new problems and an eagerness to work collaboratively
* To be committed to do your part to create an inclusive working environment
About the application procedure
The position is for a fixed term of 3 years, and is based at Paris, with frequent trips to CERN (COVID permitted). The ideal starting date for the position is in March 2021.
