Job description:
TU Dortmund University announces the opening of a Ph.D. student position in experimental high-energy particle physics within the newly formed Emmy Noether research group of Dominik Mitzel, which is associated to the larger LHCb group of Johannes Albrecht and Bernhard Spaan at TU Dortmund University.
The successful candidate will make significant contributions to the analysis of rare charm decays and to the understanding and operation of the LHCb detector. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work in close collaboration with the particle theory group of Gudrun Hiller at TU Dortmund University, which has expertise/interest in the field of rare b- and c-hadron decays.
The appointment is expected to start in April 2022 or soon after. The salary scale is based on TVL E13 (75%). Experience in high-energy data analysis and programming is beneficial. The appointment is for a period of three years. The successful candidate is expected to be based primarily at Dortmund, with the potential for extended stays at CERN. The position will involve travel to CERN for work with the LHCb collaboration, as well as travel to national and international destinations for conferences and schools.
