Deadline on Feb 15, 2022
Job description:
The Experimental High Energy Physics Group at Brandeis University has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate to work on the ATLAS experiment. The ATLAS group at Brandeis (Profs. Aram Apyan, Craig Blocker, and Gabriella Sciolla) plays a leading role in the ATLAS Inner Tracker (ITk) Strip detector and Muon detector upgrade activities. The group pursues a broad physics program presently focusing on the measurement of Higgs boson properties, precision Standard Model measurements, and direct searches for physics beyond the Standard Model.
The successful candidate is expected to play a major role in the analysis of ATLAS data and in building and commissioning of the ITk Strip detector. Candidates should have a Ph.D. in experimental particle physics by the position start date, excellent data analysis and programming skills, and the ability to carry out an independent research program. Experience with detector work is highly valued but not required. The position may be based either at CERN or BNL.
Review of applications will begin immediately, and continue until the position is filled. Interviews for qualified candidates will start in early February. The application material should be sent electronically. Interested candidates should send a curriculum vitae, a brief statement about research experience and interests, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to:
Prof. Aram Apyan, e-mail: arapyan@brandeis.edu and
Prof. Gabriella Sciolla, e-mail: sciolla@brandeis.edu
Brandeis University is an affirmative action, equal opportunity employer that is committed to creating equitable access and opportunities for applicants to all employment positions. Because diversity, equity, and inclusion are at the core of Brandeis’ history and mission, we value candidates with a variety of social identities, including those that have been underrepresented in higher education, who possess skills that spark innovation, and who, through their scholarly pursuits, teaching, and/or service experiences, bring expertise in building, engaging, and sustaining a pluralistic, unified, and just campus community.
