Job description:
The High Energy Physics Group at the Universidade de Santiago de Compostela (USC) in Spain has opened one postdoctoral research position to work on the LHCb experiment.

Applicants must have (or are about to obtain) a PhD in particle physics, and be experienced in software development and data analysis. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate is expected to play a leading role in flavour tagging, and a propensity towards either the B decays to Charmonia (B2CC) or Charmless b-hadron decays (BnoC) Physics Working Groups is preferred.

This appointee will also commit to service-work responsibilities typically embraced by LHCb members, in particular those relating to LHCb data-taking operations and analysis review. The successful candidate will be employed under the grant PID2019-109173GB-I00, whose salary will be similar to that of a Spanish “Ramón y Cajal” fellowship, the highest non-tenured opportunity available in the country. Frequent stays at CERN are foreseen, as well as the possibility for short-term visits to other LHCb-affiliated institutions as required.

Desirable experience and skills include:

·  knowledge of LHCb software;
·  experience in scientific data analysis
·  at least three years of international research experience outside Spain, PhD included;
·  history of working with graduate students.

The expected starting date for the position is from March 2022. Interested candidates should send a Cover Letter addressing the job requirements and a CV. They should also arrange for two reference letters, one being from the most recent employer, to be sent no later than 1 February 2022 to,

Veronika Chobanova (veronika.chobanova@cern.ch) and
Jeremy Dalseno (jeremy.peter.dalseno@cern.ch)
