The Physik-Institut of the University of Zurich (UZH) invites applications for a PhD student position in theoretical physics.

The successful candidate will work in the Particle Theory Group of UZH, in a dynamic and friendly scientific environment and in close contact with members of the CMS and LHCb experiments.

The thesis project will focus on the development of Effective Field Theory methods and their application to new physics searches at the Large Hadron Collider.

The position is for 4 years, to begin in Fall 2022, and offers opportunities for travel and exchange periods at other institutes.

Candidates are expected to hold a Master's degree, Diploma or equivalent in physics, theoretical physics or high energy physics. A good knowledge of the English language is required.

A background in theoretical or high energy physics and programming experience in python, C++ and/or Mathematica are an advantage.
