The Experimental High Energy Physics group at the University of Tarapacá, Chile (South America) invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in experimental high energy physics in the STAR experiment at the Brookhaven Laboratory, Long Island, USA.

A Ph.D. Thesis in experimental high-energy physics with date between 1 January 2019 and 31 August 2022 is required.

This is a two-year position and can be renewed. The starting date is negotiable and can be as late as summer 2023.

The University of Tarapacá is a public university of Chile. More information about the University can be found at https://www.uta.cl. The STAR group at the University of Tarapacá is involved in data analysis for flow of strange particles in various collisions systems, in new particle searches and in Machine Learning.

 

Salary will be 1845000 CLP per month. About 10% of the salary has to be paid for taxes to the Chilean state. Retirement and health insurance are the responsibility of the candidate to arrange at his convenience in Chile or in any country if his/her residence is out of Chile. The salary is approximately double the cost of living in Chile, and public transportation is very good so that a personal car is not needed.

 

The place of stay can be negociated. The place of work during a stay in Chile will be Santiago, Chile, or as negociated.
