Job description:
The University of Colorado high energy physics group has an opening for a postdoctoral research associate position to work on the CMS experiment. The CU faculty involved in CMS are John Cumalat, Bill Ford, Kevin Stenson, Keith Ulmer, and Steve Wagner. The group plays leading roles in the Phase 2 Level 1 track trigger and correlator trigger upgrades and Phase 2 upgrade work on pixel sensor and electronics R&D. The group is active in a variety of physics analyses including searches for supersymmetry, searches for new physics utilizing exotic jet signatures, and measurements of rare B decays with implications for the lepton flavor anomalies.

The successful candidate will be expected to play a leading role in the group’s activities on the Phase 2 Level 1 trigger upgrade, as well as data analysis related to searches for physics beyond the standard model. Experience or interest in firmware and/or machine learning is highly desirable. Primary locations for the position can potentially include Boulder, CERN, or Fermilab, and is negotiable depending on individual circumstances and specific projects. For inquiries about this position, please contact Prof. Keith Ulmer (keith.ulmer@colorado.edu).

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in particle physics or a closely related field. Travel is to be expected, including internationally. Applications will be reviewed as they arrive. Please submit your materials by August 31st to ensure full consideration, though applications will continue to be reviewed until the position is filled.

Applicants will need to submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of research interests, and contact information for three references to: https://jobs.colorado.edu/jobs/JobDetail/?jobId=40428
