Deadline on Feb 18, 2023
Job description:
The high-luminosity run of LHC, HL-LHC, starting in 2027 and lasting more than 10 years, will allow ATLAS to collect a sample of data of unprecedented size, 4000 fb-1, that will gather insight into the open issues of particle physics at the ultimate energy achievable at colliders. The local ATLAS group, with personnel from the department and the local INFN unit, is committed to build and certify for the expected performance some components of the ATLAS pixel detector for HL-LHC.
The researcher will take leading role in the activities of preparing the experimental setup and facilities necessary or the assembly and the quality certification of the detectors. The work will involve developing and integrating complex DAQ systems, managing dedicated performance measurements, deployment of the procedures for handling in an automatic and reproducible manner the components during the precision assembly. If interested, the researcher may participate in physics analyses with the ATLAS data, within the field of activities undertaken by the group.
The position will be based in Lecce, at the joint INFN and Department laboratory of High Energy Physics. Travels to CERN or collaborating INFN units may be required.
The contract, initially of two years (gross salary of about 25000 euro/year), may be renewed.
