Job description:
The Pacific Ocean Neutrino Experiment (P-ONE) group at the Institute of Nuclear Physics (IFJ PAN) in Kraków is looking for candidates for a 2.5-year post-doc position. The work will concentrate on analysis of experimental data and development of Monte Carlo simulations for the P-ONE experiment.
The P-ONE Experiment is under construction in the North-East Pacific to search for astrophysical neutrinos from various sources. Located in the Northern Hemisphere, it will provide an insight into the Southern Sky where many potential sources of neutrinos may be located. It will complement the sky coverage of IceCube and other neutrino telescopes contributing to the global observations of the Universe.
The P-ONE team in Kraków is the only Polish group in the Collaboration. Our scientific activity in the Collaboration covers:
- data analysis for physics studies,
- development of MC simulations,
- construction of laser-calibration hardware.
The position is supposed to start in Summer 2023. The precise date is negotiable.
The successful candidate is expected to possess a PhD in physics (by April 2023), experience in the analysis of experimental data, good programming skills and be passionate about work in fundamental research. An experience in astroparticle or neutrino experiments would also be appreciated but is not strongly required.
The group offers excellent working conditions in a quickly-developing experiment. A net salary appropriate to cover living expenses in Poland is foreseen.
The application, consisting of a curriculum vitae and brief research statement, should be sent to: pawel.malecki@ifj.edu.pl. In addition, the applicant is asked for two recommendation letters to be sent to the same address.
The CV should contain the following declaration:
Following art. 6 sec. 1 point a, of the general regulation on the protection of personal data of 27 April 2016 (Journal of Laws EU L 119 of 05/04/2016) I consent to the processing of my personal data by the Institute of Nuclear Physics H. Niewodniczański PAN for the needs of current recruitment.
