Postdoctoral Position in Experimental Nuclear Physics
Sejong University's Nuclear Physics Group invites applications for a postdoctoral position based in Seoul, South Korea. Our group is dedicated to advancing our understanding of the strong interaction through various heavy ion experiments, including CMS, ALICE, STAR, sPHENIX, RAON (rare isotope experiment), and EIC.
We are seeking a highly motivated candidate who will take a leading role in the development of zero degree calorimeters (ZDC) for the EIC experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Therefore, experience in calorimeter designing and engineering is desirable. Additionally, there may be opportunities for data analysis in projects such as CMS, STAR, and sPHENIX. The successful candidate will be based in Seoul and will have occasional visits to CERN, BNL, and RIKEN depending on the working project.
Qualifications are (a) Doctoral Degree in Physics with specialization in high energy nuclear physics, particle physics, or a related field, (b) research background in heavy ion collision experiments, and (c) proficiency in software development using Geant4, C++ and Python.
The initial appointment for this position is two years, with the possibility of extending it for a third year. Screening of applicants will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled. To receive full consideration, please submit your application by August 1st, 2023.
Interested candidates are requested to send their curriculum vitae (CV), including a list of publications, a concise research statement, and at least two letters of recommendation to yongsun@sejong.ac.kr. For any further inquiries, please contact the same address.
