Job description:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Uppsala University, Sweden has an opening for a two-year postdoctoral position in experimental particle physics, starting October 1, 2023 or as agreed upon. The position is funded by the Carl Trygger Foundation, in the form of a two-year scholarship, which will be paid directly to the postdoctoral fellow. Additional funds for travel and equipment are available.

The successful candidate will work on physics analysis using data from the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider, especially focusing on exotic decays of vector-like quarks.
In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to co-supervise undergraduate students and/or PhD students and contribute to the maintenance and operation of the ATLAS experiment, as required by the collaboration.

The candidate must have a doctoral degree in physics or equivalent, from a different institute than Uppsala University. Previous experience with collider experiments, such as ATLAS or CMS, or a similar background, is required. The PhD degree should ideally not be older than six years at the start of the position. Proficiency in written and spoken English is necessary.
Previous work with physics beyond the Standard Model with the ATLAS experiment is a merit.

Uppsala University aims for gender balance and diversity in all activities in order to achieve a higher quality at all levels of the organization. We therefore welcome applicants of any gender and with different birth background, functionality and life experience.
