Job description:
The experimental high energy physics group at Texas A&M University invites applications for an Assistant Research Scientist position to work on the CMS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The Assistant Research Scientist position is a career research staff position and a part of the Research Scientist Track.
The Texas A&M University CMS group, led by Profs. Ricardo Eusebi, Teruki Kamon, and Alexei Safonov, is actively engaged in physics analyses focusing on non-Standard Higgs searches and cosmologically motivated scenarios of new physics, detector and electronics R&D, muon and trigger upgrades, as well as detector operations. Candidates should generally anticipate taking leading roles in physics analyses and/or detector upgrade and operations and should expect a non-negligible amount of travel, including internationally. The preferred primary location for the position is College Station (home town of Texas A&M University) while CERN could be an acceptable alternative, depending on individual circumstances and specific projects; primary location may change over time as projects evolve based on mutual agreement. While we anticipate successful candidates to join the group as soon as possible, the actual start date may be negotiable.
Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in experimental particle physics or a related field and must have demonstrated abilities pertinent to the anticipated activities. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Full details, including preferred experience and qualifications are listed at the Texas A&M job posting link.
To apply, please upload a single pdf with cover letter, CV, publication list, and a brief statement of research interests (maximum five pages) using this link (alternatively, go to https://jobs.tamu.edu and search for posting R-064160, Assistant Research Scientist). Optional entries in the application interface (work experience, education, certifications, skills) do not need to be completed as long as the relevant information is provided in the uploaded file. As part of the application process, applicants will be required to provide names and contact information of at least three references; references will be contacted directly by the Texas A&M University to request letters. Applications will be considered until the position is filled; the deadline for guaranteed full consideration is November 15, 2023. For more information contact Prof. Safonov at safonov@tamu.edu.
Texas A&M University is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Veterans/Disability Employer.
