At the Institute of Physics at the Faculty of Natural Sciences, the University of Graz is seeking to appoint a

Full Professorship in Theoretical Particle Physics with applications in Astrophysics using non-perturbative methods

(40 hours per week; selection procedure in accordance with Section 98 of the Universities Act (UG); permanent employment according to the Salaried Employees Act (AngG); expected starting date October 1st 2025)

We are looking for an excellent researcher in the field of theoretical particle physics using first-principles non-perturbative methods (e.g. lattice methods or functional methods), who will complement and extend our expertise with applications of particle physics in the field of astrophysics (e.g. compact objects, cosmic rays, dark matter, cosmology, or quantum gravity). The successful candidate is expected to regularly teach the full breadth of theoretical physics, especially particle physics at all levels, as well special topics close to actual research for master and PhD students, including the supervision of theses. Furthermore, the Theoretical Physics Group hosts the Doctoral Academy Consortium ‘Theoretical Particle Physics’, aimed at an excellent, structured PhD education. The successful candidate is expected to take an active role in this consortium. The University of Graz and the TU Graz coordinate their natural science activities in the strategic NAWI Graz cooperation. This will lead to a union of their physics institutes into a combined “Graz Center of Physics”. The successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to these efforts and collaborate with the participating groups.
