Job description:
The Center for Particle Physics in Siegen (CPPS) has an opening for a three-year
postdoctoral researcher position in experimental particle physics
to work on silicon detector development, mainly on the ATLAS ITk pixel upgrade project.
The Siegen group has been a long-time member of the ATLAS collaboration, participating in the construction and continuous operation of the pixel detector. The group actively participates in the phase-2 upgrade of the central inner tracker (ITk). The Siegen group closely collaborates with two other German institutes (Bonn, Göttingen), together being responsible for assembling and testing 2.000 pixel modules of the outer barrel, to be installed at the heart of the upgraded ATLAS detector.
The successful candidate’s primary responsibility will be establishing the module assembly and testing procedures, together with a highly motivated technical team. Contributions to detector R&D will be possible, as well.
Highly qualified applicants should have a PhD in experimental particle physics and experience in detector operation and/or instrumentation, ideally in silicon detectors. Good communication skills, the ability to coordinate a team effectively, and confident reporting skills are required. The position is located at Siegen, a cosy, international University town, with short travels and/or longer stays at Bonn or CERN for the integration. An attractive salary is offered.
The position is available immediately for an appointment of initially three years. Applications are accepted immediately and will be reviewed in the order they are received. The position will be open until filled.
The University of Siegen is an equal-opportunity employer. If you are interested, please send your application by e-mail to markus.cristinziani@uni-siegen.de. Please arrange for at least two letters of recommendation to be sent to the same address above.
You are welcome to send questions or informal inquiries to Markus Cristinziani (markus.cristinziani@uni-siegen.de). More information can be found on our group's webpage https://www.hep.physik.uni-siegen.de/.
