Job description:
The ATLAS group at the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) is looking for an excellent postdoctoral research fellow in the field of Experimental High Energy Physics for a working on ATLAS physics analysis. The position is to be based at CERN with a competitive salary level.

The WIS-ATLAS group is involved with different activities ranging from Higgs physics to searches for new physics, through measurements related to lepton-universality, flavor and more. The group is also involved with operation and maintenance of the “big wheel” TGCs, the sTGC of the new small wheel (NSW) including its trigger processor, and the EIL4 TGCs in phase-2 upgrade. We also work on R&D of detector technologies for future experiments within the DRD collaborations.

Candidates are expected to work on physics analysis, specifically the R(K*) and B_s-->uu measurements (but not limited to these necessarily), and on BLS-trigger operations, while taking leading roles in these fronts. It is also possible to contribute to our ongoing searches in the exotics group and other detector operations (inline with the group activities).

The post is to be based at CERN with some trips to WIS as needed, and can start in Oct 2024 earliest.

The net salary is equivalent to 5,000 CHF/month divided into a normal postdoc fellowship component [1] and a cost of living abroad (COLA) component.

The applicant should have a PhD degree in physics, excellent knowledge in experimental particle physics, excellent programming skills (C++, Python, ROOT) and extensive experience with machine-learning techniques. Experience with detector instrumentation is beneficial.

Applicants can start employment no later than 5 years after receiving their PhD, while employment can extend up to 7 years after receiving the PhD. Applications are welcome from all qualified individuals.

Please send your CV with a list of publications and arrange for at least three letters of recommendation to be emailed to Noam Tal Hod (noam.hod@weizmann.ac.il).
