Job description:
The UNDARK consortium invites applications for TWO postdoctoral contracts, each with a duration of 2 years and in the field of theoretical astroparticle physics and cosmology. The general area of the research project is “Theory and phenomenology of astrophysical probes of fundamental physics”, with a particular focus on studying the fundamental nature of Dark Matter.
These postdoctoral positions will be based at the Astroparticle Theory group (led by Dr Jorge Martin Camalich) of the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) and will entail close collaboration with the partners of the network: CERN-TH (led by Dr Valerie Domcke), IFAE (led by Prof Diego Blas), LAPTh (led by Dr Francesca Calore) and Weizmann Institute (led by Prof Kfir Blum).
These postdoctoral positions are part of UNDARK – “Unravelling the Dark Universe from the Canary Islands Observatories”, a project funded by Horizon Europe Widening Actions (HORIZON-WIDERA-2023-ACCESS-02-01, 101159929), led by Dr Jorge Martin Camalich, which aims to increase the competitiveness of the IAC in astroparticle theory and fundamental physics exploiting synergies with the Canary Islands Observatories.
Requirements - Candidates must have an excellent research record, commensurate with the duration of their research career. They must be in possession of a Ph.D. degree in Physics or Astrophysics by the start of their employment. Applicants with a strong background in astroparticle theory and cosmology are encouraged to apply.
Conditions - It is expected that the date of commencement will be before 1 October 2025. The current funding horizon for the project ends on 30 September 2027. An extension for a third year may be envisaged through opportunities for further funding may be available at the IAC or at the partner institutions.
The gross annual salary will be 38.371 Euros, with deductions of up to 20% for income tax (IRPF) and social security (dependent on the candidate's personal situation). The contract provides social security cover for spouse or de facto partner and children. The present job offer includes financial support related to the incorporation of the selected candidate at the IAC. In addition, generous travel funds from the UNDARK project are available for stays at the partner centers and participation in conferences.
Procedure - Please, apply through this link:
