Position Available: Postdoc/Junior researcher, ATLAS Experiment, project FORTE

Department: Department of Physics, Faculty of Nuclear Sciences and Physical Engineering
Institution: Czech Technical University in Prague
Location: Prague, Czech Republic
Start Date: January 2025 or negotiable
Duration: Initially 24 months, with potential for extension based on funding

The Department of Physics at the Czech Technical University in Prague invites applications for a postdoctoral scholar position starting in or around January 2025. The successful candidate will join a research group led by Dr. Zdenek Hubacek and will work on the ATLAS Experiment at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC).

Research Focus: The selected candidate will contribute to the analysis of high pT jet events collected by ATLAS during Run 3. The primary goal is to measure the inclusive jet and dijet cross sections, advancing our understanding of fundamental particle interactions. The candidate is expected to lead the analysis.

Team and Collaborations: The research group, led by Dr. Hubacek, currently comprises 2 staff members, one PhD student, and one master's student. Our group is actively engaged in measuring the inclusive jet cross section and related analyses, as well as contributing to the Simulation group. Additionally, collaborators from CTU in Prague are involved in various projects including Simulation, ITk upgrade, luminosity measurement, and Higgs physics, Electroweak (EW) studies, and B-physics analyses.

Qualifications:
  • PhD in high-energy particle physics or a related field by the start date of the appointment.
  • Up to 7 years of prior postdoctoral experience.
  • Demonstrated research excellence, evidenced by at least two publications within the last three years.
