Job description:
The nuclear physics group at Sejong University invites applications for a postdoctoral position to work on the CMS heavy-ion experiment at CERN. Our group is also involved in ALICE, STAR, sPHENIX, RHICf, and ePIC experiments, contributing to data analysis, detector R&D, and phenomenological studies in related areas. The successful candidate will take a leading role in analyzing Ultra-Peripheral Collision (UPC) events and/or investigating quarkonia and heavy-flavor production using CMS heavy-ion data. While the main responsibility will be data analysis, the candidate may also contribute to other collaborative projects.
The position is primarily based in Seoul, with opportunities to travel to CERN for data-taking, collaboration meetings, and research activities. An extended stay or full-time placement at CERN may also be considered depending on research requirements and leadership duties. The initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of one-year extension. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in experimental nuclear physics or high-energy physics by the time of appointment.
The review process will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled without a strict deadline.
Interested candidates should submit the following materials to Yongsun Kim at kimy@cern.ch.
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- A brief statement of research interests
- Publication list
- Two reference letters (to be sent separately by the referees)
Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.
