Job description:
The Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM), seeks one or more Postdoctoral researcher candidates in the area of accelerator physics, beam physics, and free-electron laser (FEL) physics, to work in the UHM accelerator laboratory. The UHM facility consists of a linear accelerator for electrons up to 45MeV, an FEL oscillator to generate infrared lasers, and an Inverse Compton Scattering chamber to generate 10keV x-rays. The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal up to three years conditional upon satisfactory performance and continued funding.
Minimum Qualifications: PhD in physics, applied physics, accelerator and beam physics, electrical engineering, or a closely related field.
Desirable Qualifications: Experience with accelerator and FEL instrumentation and/or measurements; programming in python, matlab, labview. Candidates with a background in experimental accelerator and beam physics, FEL physics, electrical engineering or a closely related field are encouraged to apply. Stipend will depend on experience and qualifications.
